If you are still debating about what to do for your Christmas card this year, this is the post for you! Have you seen The Christmas Collaboration shop? It involves two of the most talented ladies I know. Lindsay of Pen and Paint has collaborated her art skills with Katy’s design skills of Katygirl Designs to bring you unique Christmas designs.

The Christmas Collaboration shop sells beautiful Christmas prints (don’t you love this one?) tags, and note cards.

And they are selling Christmas cards too!

The designs are so great! I love seeing my sweet boys on these cards. How do you even pick one?

You can choose from single sided or double sided…one photo or multiple photos.

And this is the best part. A portion of every Christmas card sale is going to benefit the Joyful Life Library. So great! Lindsay and Katy believe in Heather and her project and are so excited to be able to give back in this way. You all know I love Heather and the Joyful Life Library so I am really excited about this! So here’s the story behind our family pictures this year…

They were originally scheduled at the beginning of October. Which also turned out to be the day after Joel got Bell’s Palsy. So I emailed Gina and explained what happened and that Joel probably wouldn’t be up for taking pictures and asked if we could reschedule. Of course she was so understanding so we waited a few weeks to see how Joel was doing. He was getting so much better but his progress has been SLOW so we decided to go ahead and schedule them and hope for the best. Picture day came and Joel still couldn’t smile but he graciously agreed to just go ahead and take them. He is a good sport because I’m pretty sure if it had been me I would have not wanted to be in any pictures. Well, the boys and I look great…but Joel on the other hand… πŸ™‚Β  I’m totally kidding. It is just weird to not see Joel’s big smile when that is such a defining characteristic of him, you know? And he wasn’t a big fan. I actually didn’t think he looked that bad. πŸ˜‰Β  The boys looked adorable, of course!

So here are a few of our family pics this year…

Levi loves Miss Gina. Griffin wasn’t so sure. Can you sense his uneasiness? Haha.

But then he started to warm up.

And then Gina told us to make silly faces and this was Levi’s pose. How can you not smile at that crazy face?

And Griffin was all smiles after that.

I always like to have a picture to remember their sissy too. And my heart always aches a little when I actually see it. I wish so much that she was here, sandwiched in between her two crazy brothers.

See what I mean? Not bad, just not his typical smiley self. We did get one really good family pic where the Bell’s Palsy isn’t very obvious…but I’m saving that one for the Christmas card. πŸ™‚

I think this is one of my favorites. Gina told them to go take a picture with their mama and they messed up my hair instead. So typical.

I love these two so much. What a gift it is to be there mama.

Thanks so much Gina! The pictures you take of my family are treasures…even the ones with crazy faces! And next year we will be back with all four of our smiles!

  • Selena Bragg - Oh, they’re so good, Jess! I’m sorry for Joel… I have two friends who have suffered with BP, and I know how disheartening the recovery can be, however they are both back to normal, and I know the Lord will be faithful to answer your prayers, as well.

Your family is precious, and your boys remind me so much of ours… they are 3 & 5, and baby boy #3 will be here in about 5 weeks! πŸ™‚ Your G reminds me of my youngest; we should get our pics back the end of the week, and it took bribery to convince him to relax and enjoy the session as he was very hesitant and nervous… I am anxious to see them.

Thank you for sharing your sweet family… the pic with their Sissy breaks my heart. I hope the promise and hope of Heaven brings you comfort. May God bless you and your family with joy, peace, and love throughout the coming holiday season.

As I prepared and prayed about what I shared with you last week, I started realizing that I have a lot of work to do on my own heart. I can see myself easily getting busy and preoccupied with Christmas activities again this year and pushing out my time with God. I needed to recommit to prepare my heart as Christmas approaches so that I can help point my kids to Jesus and love those around me well. And you know what? Last week proved to be one of those busy weeks where I had to fight and be disciplined to stay in the Word. I was beginning to feel overwhelmed and I thought how in the world can I write about these things when I’m struggling to live them out myself?! So, I just wanted you to know that. I am not perfect. I fail. I struggle with all the same things that can pull us away from keeping Christ at the center of Christmas as you do. I am not an expert and I definitely do not celebrate Christmas perfectly myself. I am so thankful that God gives me grace and fills in the gaps from my insufficiency.

I emailed Heather and asked her if she would have time to create some printables that went along with the Christmas carols I shared last week. Of course, she went above and beyond and created two sets of printables. I love them SO much! We were able to give one of these to each mom that came to our “Surviving the Holidays with Grace” session which was fun! Our hope was that the ladies would take one of these prints home and tape or clip it up to remind them of the things God was asking them to do to make Christmas more about Him this year. I had decided to hang up “let every heart prepare Him room”. I thought this was the one the Lord was nudging me on this year. But then today I was feeling some weariness and thought maybe I should hang up “a thrill of hope the weary world rejoices” instead. I probably just need to hang up all three, right?!

Heather is selling these prints and other fun Christmas printables in her shop. She is the sweetest and offered to give away some of these print sets to my readers! Yay! The great thing about these prints is that they are an instant download. Once you purchase (or win!) a print or a print set you instantly download them to your computer. Then, you can print them at home or have them printed at a print shop.

Jess, appreciate your candor and transparency – it is far too easy to get caught up in shopping lists, baking lists, volunteer lists, pinterest land, etc., especially this time of year (I’m guilty of this). Thank you for taking the time to gently remind us about recommiting our hearts to Him.ReplyCancel

  • Meggie - I love them all! I think I’d enjoy “Joy to the World The Lord is Come” best. [Reply]

  • Tessa - I could definitely use the reminder. I am struggling with how to celebrate Christmas with my family and how should Christmas look for us? It’s something I am spending a great deal of time praying over. I need the reminder of let every heart prepare him room as well as a thrill of hope a weary world rejoices.ReplyCancel

    [Reply]

  • Haley F - I love the “Let Every Heart” print!ReplyCancel

    [Reply]

  • Rebecca - “A thrill of hope, The weary world rejoices”. My beloved Daddy passed away this year, and this time of year is already proving to be extremely dificult. As we prepare for our first Thanksgiving and Christmas without him, and I get weary in my grief, I am leaning heavily on the hope of our Savior. O Holy Night is also my favorite Christmas carol. It has a new meaning to me this year.ReplyCancel

    [Reply]

  • Leanne - I could use all 3! But the one that speaks to me this year is ‘Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room’. Christmas often passes by without preparing our hearts at all…then it’s gone. This is what I/my family needs. I enjoy your blog very much!ReplyCancel

    [Reply]

  • Kim - So much truth that could be used as a reminder in those fabulously adorable signs. It was so hard to choose…the “Be Still and Know” sign or the “Let your Gentleness be evident to all” sign or the “Gracious Words…” sign could all speak so much truth into my busy-minded, fast-footed mom head of mine. But, I guess what would be the most relevant during the Christmas season would be the “Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room” one. It would be a great reminder for our whole family, and I would hang it above where we put our Advent activities (a tradition we started a few years ago) we do all of the days in December leading up to Christmas. So many times during the Christmas season, we are caught up in the hustle and bustle and our Advent activities as busy as they can be too sometimes is a good reminder to bring us back to a spot to prepare room in our hearts and minds for the One we are celebrating at Christmas-Jesus! Thanks for all that you do and for the giveaway too!ReplyCancel

    [Reply]

  • danielel - I’d totally hang the Every Heart Prepare Him Room one too! God should just save himself some time and speak to you and I simultaneously on this topic because I’m hearing the same thing this year, and I too have already needed to be reminded of it! πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

    [Reply]

  • dana - I love the glorious day print! I need that reminder for each day! And I love all the Christmas printables but “O Come Let Us Adore Him” puts all the focus right on Christ.
