Dear Griffin,

I can hardly believe you are two (plus a few months as I write this). How did my baby turn into a two year old?

You are proving to be so very different from your brother and it is fun to see your little personality emerge. You are introverted, quiet, funny, brave, determined and you love your brother fiercely.

You are introverted. You don’t love a crowd and big family gatherings are not your favorite. You stick close to mama when there are lots of people around. It takes you a while to warm up to new people and new situations. I love when you finally trust someone because they get to see a whole new side of you.

You are quiet but you understand so much. You have come a long way with your verbal skills. You “talk” all the time and we are starting to recognize so many more of the words you are saying. You will continue to say a word over and over and over until we figure it out. You are very persistent even though your vocabulary is small. Your big brother does a lot of the talking for you…which you seem to be okay with. And if we can’t figure out what you want, he often can.

We have been talking about all the things God made and we often ask you questions like, “Griffin, who made the moon?” or “Griffin, who made the trees?” You get a little grin on your face and yell out, “God!” You may not talk a lot but I love that you can acknowledge our great God even at two.

You are so funny. You don’t talk much but we are constantly laughing at your funny antics. Your facial expressions kill us…they say so much even without words.

You are determined. Sometimes we like to call it stubborn around here. 🙂  You definitely know what you want. When you have your mind made up that you are going to do something, you usually figure out a way to do it. You are starting to voice your frustration when Levi gets to go do something that you want to do. You don’t like to be left behind and you make sure that daddy knows that you need a turn to ride in the tractor too!

You are brave. I think that comes with your determination. You are willing to try anything and are pretty fearless. You are constantly falling down. Each day usually brings a new bump or bruise. You are getting quite fond of bandaids too.

You love your brother and want to do everything he is doing. You guys can fight like crazy but he is your best friend for sure. He can make you laugh like no one else can.

I love this photo because it is such a picture of you right now. Looking up to your big brother but so big yourself.

And just so you won’t forget, your brother wanted to jump into your two year old post too. He is not an introvert. At all.

He thought he was pretty funny. He loves you so much. He may do all the talking, but he loves spending time with you and does such a good job watching out for you. Oh, and he is your best wrestling buddy. You two wrestle all the time.

Griff, I am so thankful for you. I love watching you as a two year old. Two is pretty great. And I can’t wait to see how God works in your little life. You are one loved little boy.

Sarah + Abraham sent the boys the cutest Christmas plates.

The boys love having personalized plates and they thought these were pretty great.

This has nothing to do with Christmas plates but just the other day Levi was spelling his name. He was saying, “L-e-v-i” over and over. We were talking about how the “i” in his name has a dot. And then he yelled out, “Hey, mom. My name is L-e-v.com!” Oh my. The kid is already planning his own website.

Griffin likes to have everything his brother has so he was pretty pleased with his plate too.

Plus, it’s my first child’s (a 6-month-old son) FIRST Christmas and I think getting him his own personal plate to use every Christmas from here on out would be such a special gift and tradition.
