This is the third year we have hosted the “young marrieds” Fourth of July party at our house. It is always so fun to have everyone come to our house way out in the country. We ate, played games outside, and ended the evening by watching fireworks. It was the perfect evening…the weather was beautiful. Thanks for coming friends!

  • Leah - I absolutely love picture of you and Cora – she is beautiful just like her mommy!! And I am so sad we didn’t run into each other at the fireworks 🙁 Haha, although it probably wouldn’t have been the best time to meet Caleb – he was pretty tired and delirious and acting ornery – he finally settled down when the lights went off, and then fell asleep halfway through…and while we aren’t out in Peabody often, craig’s mom lives in Hesston – the next time we’re out there we’ll have to come visit!!ReplyCancel

Our small group took an overnight trip to KC this past weekend. Friday night we ate at an Italian restaurant on the Plaza. We sat at a table in the kitchen and watched as all the food was made. Anytime the servers came to pick up a plate they stopped by our table and told us about each dish. Our mouths were watering by the time our food arrived.

Our table was facing the kitchen.

Are you hungry yet?

Cora liked the fluffy pillows on our hotel bed. We decided to stay in KC an extra night so that Joel could have a day to sleep in (that is rare when you are a farmer). We slept in as much as we could with Cora and even took a short nap before checking out of the hotel. Phil and Jenae had introduced me to a new restaurant the day before. I liked it so much I took Joel back to it on Sunday.

All of their food displays were so pretty.

This one made me want to decorate some cookies. So many pretty colors.

I thought Joel would especially appreciate all the yummy cheese! It looks like our trip was all about food…it really wasn’t. Some of the group spent Saturday at Worlds of Fun. The rest of us enjoyed some big city shopping, Starbucks, and taking care of the babies. It was great to get away and hang out with friends!

Cora and I headed out to the field during wheat harvest last week. Cora had her first ride in the combine. I think she liked it…she hardly made a sound the whole time we were out there. She was busy checking everything out.

Cora is very popular with the farm boys. Joel let Cora sit in one of their new tractors. He thought this one was just her size.

Cora and Fred (Joel’s boss).

Cora and Owen (my brother). He works on the farm in the summers.

This is my sweet nephew Henry. He turned three last week. He is so cute and constantly cracks me up. Two of his birthday presents were a bat and green rubber boots. He liked the bat because it was yellow (his favorite color). His arm is in a sling because he broke his collar bone. It didn’t slow him down though…he was ready to play baseball.

I loved his green rubber boots!
